Job Description

We are looking for a motivated and collaborative individual to join the board of directors at Scholarship for Advanced Global Education (SAGE). Founded in 2008, SAGE is a US-based 501(c)3 organization that awards university scholarships to students in Guyana, South America who show academic promise, financial need, and strong dedication to their country.

Core Responsibilities:

• Attend all board meetings (currently every other month) and participate in all board activities (emails, votes, etc.)

• Serve on committees (finance, publicity, scholar support, etc.) and task forces to operationalize SAGE’s mission

• Support scholarship administration including new scholar selection

• Develop and implement fundraising strategies

• Assist in making decisions about the organization's finances

• Recruit and retain board members

Qualifications:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Commitment to the organization's mission and values

• Creative problem solver willing to take initiative

• Fundraising experience a plus

• Social media savvy desirable

This is a remote volunteer position with an expected term of 2 years. Active fundraising on at least an annual basis is expected and encouraged. Board members typically work an average of 10-15 hours per month on SAGE projects depending on their committee assignments and the time of year.
