At SAGE, we are very excited to welcome not one, not two, but three new scholars to our family! Marcella Gonsalves, Kaveta Mohammed, and Kevin Morgan all began their studies at the University of Guyana on August 29th, 2011.

Help SAGE support and empower Guyanese students by joining us at Local 16 in Washington D.C.  for our annual fundraiser!

We will be serving $5 rail drinks, martinis, shots, house red and white wine, sangria, Bud Light, and Peroni for the first hour and a half (until 8:30PM).   There will also be free pizza for those who arrive early!

With just a small donation, you can help support our upcoming 2011 SAGE scholar to attend the University of Guyana.  This year, SAGE is happy to report that we have received a stunning number of scholarship applicants!

Last night one of SAGE’s volunteers, Taruna Sadhoo, was honored as one of “those individuals who, through the years, have been ambassadors for our country[Guyana], flying our flag with honour and pride by their many endeavours of distinguished and empowering leadership due to the many facets of their accomplishments and contributions.”  Please join us in congratulating Taruna for all of her hard work and her continued commitment to Guyana.   Read the full story at the Guyana Times International!

In order to accommodate the newly updated University of Guyana general application deadline in May, the SAGE application deadline has been pushed back.  The previous due date was April 29, 2011.  The new due date for 2011 SAGE application is May 29, 2011. Apply now!

SAGE is excited about the turn-out for our first annual SAGE fundraiser in NYC! The second floor of Traffic Bar was packed with people from as far as Boston and DC, who came out to support Caleb and Patricee’s college education at University of Guyana. We were humbled to see family, friends, teachers and even grad students come out to support education and development in Guyana. Our $10 donation at the door and raffle brought in more than enough funds to pay for Caleb’s second year at UG, including room and board, transportation and books. Thanks to everyone who helped us to make this event a success!
